Ganei HaEla is close to and the name is inspired by the Emek HaEla (Hebrew: עמק האלה). The Emek HaEla is the place where Dovid HaMelech fought Goliath (Shmuel Alef 17:2〔http://www.mechon-mamre.org/p/pt/pt08b01.htm〕).
